Lake Sebu: Philippines' Own Paradise Falls

Lake Sebu is a paradise. Sure it was a long and tiring journey, but every single thing in there is worth it. Photos cannot do justice how it would make one feel at peace. :)

Flew with PAL. Good thing my airfare's company-sponsored as I would be heading to fieldwork after the weekend. Darrel's roundtrip, non-promo airfare costed about P7,000. We took the first flight at 6:55am, and arrived at General Santos City at 8.38am. We didn't check in any baggage so everything ran fast and smoothly.

We rode a single-motorcycle aka habal-habal to the bus terminal for P100 per head. There area cabs as well but with a fixed rate of P350 for a special trip, but there are also cabs who pool 4 passengers for P150 per pax to be dropped off to some areas, one of them is SM GenSan.

Cabs in GenSan are all on-call. Anyone interested may want to contact these numbers:
Lito Alac - 09331938842/09282810828
Socskargen Taxi - 09102591662

Then we rode a non-stop bus from the terminal to Marbel, Koronadal. Video on board. P75 per head.

KCC Koronadal and BDO is just a few blocks away from KCC Koronadal so we did our last shopping before the ride to the rural parts of South Cotabato. I read on blogs that from the terminal there's a bus to Surallah where we can ride a jeepney to Lake Sebu, but just across the YBL Terminal is Denmark Terminal, with non-aircon old vans going straight from Marbel to Lake Sebu for just P55 per head, just around P10-difference from the bus-jeep option. The barker of the van referred his brother to us who can take us to Punta Isla Lake Resort and give us a ride around Lake Sebu with his singe (habal-habal). Here is Kuya Rolly's contact number: 09359702321 but he then referred us to another brother (whose name I forgot). He can be reached through 09462231214.

We just spent Saturday afternoon eating and exploring the resort.

Blotik 1 (VIP room) of Punta Isla Lake Resort costs P950 a night. It only has 1 ceiling fan but is very cold at night. Old CR and a CRT TV that is subscribed to Cignal (satellite cable) but only has 2 channels (ABS-CBN and Cinemax).

The balcony/porch outside our room. Offers a great view and is very quiet--good for intimate dining. You may ask for your food to served here or in your room but for a fee (P50).
The Floating Restaurant. Entrance is P100 for daytripper/walk-in customers and P75 for overnighters per head. We ate lunch around here around 3pm so we had the whole place to ourselves.
Chicharong Tilapia. Really crispy! Best with vinegar. Serving is good for 3-4 people.

Sinigang na Tilapia sa Pakwan. Interesting dish. Pakwan didn't have an effect to the sourness of the soup--it's when you bite into it that the sweetness of the watermelon blends well with the sourness of the sinigang.

The fisherman treating his fishes to merienda.
That night we were so full (yes, we had a VERY HEAVY lunch) and tired we just opted for dessert and had it served in our room.

Banana Split very affordable at P50. Just one scoop of ice cream with 4 banana halves, 2 slices of mango, corn flakes and a cherry.
The next day we went to Seven Falls at 7.30am. Entrance to the "park" is P20 per head, and the zip line, depending on the height and length, costs P250 to P300 per head. This is what we went here for.

Photos are taken throughout the ride so be sure you're always smiling. Hahaha. Photos cost P100 for two hard copies, and P150 for the whole set of the photos in soft copy (be sure you have flash drive, or SD card). We opted for the hard copies as we had the same pose for all the photos, only zooming in.

A treehouse along the path to Falls No. 1.

The path to Falls No. 1.
Falls No. 1--the widest.

Falls No.2--the tallest.
Us and the tallest falls.
Under-appreciated are the rock formations surrounding the falls. They are as gorgeous.
The mist bidding goodbye as we leave Falls No. 2. Photos cannot justify nature's beauty.
Then we went to Trangkini Falls. The views going to and in there are breathtaking.

On the way to Trangkini Falls.
We chose not to head to Trangkini Falls since we are short of time, but the dip in this part of the stream is best thing to cap off our two days in Lake Sebu!

Super cold water washed away the dust and sweat from the treks and habal-habal rides. The dip here was really refreshing!
We went back to Punta Isla to fix ourselves and eat lunch before heading back to GenSan.

Kuya driver fetched us from Punta Isla again to the terminal. We gave him P400 for the tour and the service to the terminal, we just added some amount as token for the very good service. But If anyone's interested with the Punta Isla-Seven Falls fare, it's just P100 per head. And Punta Isla to the terminal is just P15 per head.
